I have always been a reader.  When I was a child, my standard punishment for bad behavior was being grounded to my room.  Well, it was the 1980’s and we did not have all the technology that is available today.  Therefore, I read books incuding large novels and encyclopedias.  Currently, I am reading the book called The Bait of Satan by John Bevere.  I recommend it.  Other books that I have read that you may enjoy are...

  • They Smell like Sheep (Lynn Anderson)
  • Guarding the Channels of the Supernatural (Kim Haney)
  • It’s your Ship (Captain D. Michael Abrashoff)
  • First in, Last out (Chief John Salka)
  • The Blessing (John Trent and Gary Smalley)
  • Killing Patton (Bill O’Reilly)
  • A Prayer Warrior’s Guide to Praying Scriptures (Juli Jasinski)
  • How to Think like Einstien (Scott Thorpe)
  • A Prophet in Our Time: The Life Story of T. W. Barnes (Nona Freeman)
  • Prayer (Verbal Bean)
  • Winning the Spiritual Warfare (Pastor James Holland)
  • Spiritual Gifts (Bishop David Bernard)

This is obviously not a comprehensive list.  These are books that I have read over many years and the ones that I remember something about.  In other words, something in the book jumped out at me and I can recall it as I write this blog.  I have read many other books and obviously encourage reading for anyone that wants to aspire to ministry within the church.  As the saying says, “Leaders are readers.”

Have a great week!

How was your 2017?  There is no doubt that you had peaks and valleys...good times and bad times!  Personally, my 2017 was not a good year as a whole, but God is still good!  There are many things that I could justify in my mind for being mad at God.  My human nature says that I should point my finger at God and give Him a piece of my mind.  The truth is that God has been faithful, just and kind.  He is a constant in my life that has not changed and is forever my friend and my God.

God has not promised us an Earthly journey without problems.  He has promised that He will not change.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Therefore, as we walk this path, it is on us to stay faithful.  If you are faithful, the enemy will use every tool in his arsenal to tear you down.  Take a look at these scriptures...

1 Peter 5:8-9 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Ephesians 6:11-12 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. [12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Spiritual warfare is part of the Christian journey.  The devil does not play fair.  The Apostle Paul said...

2 Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

He will attack anything that he sees as a weakness as he attempts to pull you away from God and your calling.  They key to winning the spiritual war is not to waver or give up, it is to stay faithful.  Shara McKee sings a song that says “I Held On”. (  It is a song of faithfulness because for all the scripture that I copied and pasted concerning the enemy fighting us, I can give you so many more showing God fighting for us if we just hold on.

1 Samuel 17:47 And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord's , and he will give you into our hands.

Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord , and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord .

1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Isaiah 59:19 So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.

Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

The list of scripture giving us victory over the enemy is much longer.  If you stay faithful, God will keep you.  Staying faithful and trusting God and His Word is not always easy because we see through our eyeballs and not with our spiritual eyes.  Pray that God opens your eyes to reveal what He sees in your life.

Revelation 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

I cannot guarantee that 2018 will be stellar, but I can tell you that God will be faithful and true.  If you just continue to trust God and hold onto to His Word, you will emerge victorious.

1 Corinthians 9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

Happy New Year
