The story of "Blind Bartimaeus" is found in Mark 10. It is one of the great stories of healing in the scripture. There are three key points that can position someone for healing, blessing and deliverance just like Bartimaeus.
1. How are you identified?
Bartimaeus had an identity crisis. He was blind, but not only was he blind, his blindness defined him. He was "blind Bartamaeus". He recognized that people could not see passed his disability and see him.
What is your identity crisis? Are you addicted, sick, dealing with family problems, financial difficulties or marriage issues? Have your circumstances become your identification? Like blind Bartamaeus, have you become addicted Joe or broke Susie? You get the picture.
2. Recognize Jesus
Bartimaeus had a desire to overcome his identity crisis. He had to find his solution and one day he heard Jesus was coming by his little spot in the world. We are not sure how, but Bartimaeus knew who Jesus was and understood the Messianic prophecies. He cried, "Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me." Bartimaeus recognized Jesus as his healer and deliverer.
3. Get out of your comfort zone
Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus. When told to be quiet, Bartimaeus cried out even more. He had to make himself known to the Lord. Jesus knew everything about Bartimaeus, but it seems that He would have walked by if Bartimaeus did not cry out louder. It revealed the faith of the blind man.
Jesus healed Bartimaeus that day because of faith. Faith is the belief that God could heal, but it did not happen without Bartimaeus acting upon his faith. James would later pen:
James 2:17 KJV
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
You can position yourself for a blessing through faith and a few steps toward Jesus.
