Our church has been studying through the Book of Hosea the past couple of months. In reading and studying, it seems that God was contantly threatening them as if He were a wrathful and vengeful God. As you look through the book, it says...
Hosea 1:2 KJV
Hosea 2:6 KJV
Hosea 4:6 KJV
I think you get the idea, but if you read the entire book and put all the scripture into context it reveals God’s love. God is giving Israel many chances to change their sinful ways before He would allow the Assyrians to invade.
Peter summed it up in His epistle...
2 Peter 3:9 KJV
God loves each of us and is longsuffering. He is giving us time to repent and love Him back. We make mistakes. We mess up. God is patient as He waits for us to return to Him. The father of the prodigal son was watching for His son because he loved Him. It was the big brother that represents the church that had the attitude. The church does not need to point out the mistakes of others, but love them as they look to love Jesus.
God is longsuffering. Thank God for that longsuffering because you may be the one that needs it in the future.
Have a great week!
