I appreciate the patience of those that read this blog. I have been without a computer for a couple weeks (by choice) and now am back and fully committed to writing this blog. I write for the benefit of the reader, but also it helps me as I study the Bible. I very much enjoy my time writing this blog and right now I am at McDonald's typing furiously.
I recently attended the Virginia District Campmeeting at the Augusta Conference Center in Fort Defiance. It is a beautiful facility located in Shenandoah and it is owned by the Virginia District of the United Pentecostal Church. It was truly an life changing experience being in the presence of the most high God with a people that were in unity. The unity of the body is a key ingredient to revival...
Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
The term one accord is translated as unanimous. Of the 120 that had gathered in the Upper Room, there were no dissenting votes. Interestingly enough, I have searched in other translations and they just refer to to the 120 being together in one place. They miss the importance of the unity of those that gathered. Each person wanted to receive everything they could from God. They did not come into the Upper Room a defeated or rejected people, but came expecting because of the prophecy of Jesus...
Acts 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
The Old Testament refers to the anointing that comes with unity in Psalms 133...
1 A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
When coming together this week, we must determine to be unified in our worship. The unity will bring healing of the physical and spiritual. It will allow the church to move in the same direction and those that may never have been in church before will feel something that can only be felt in the presence of God. The anointing is our number one outreach and it is necessary for the healthy growth of the church.
