Isaiah 13 states...
2 Raise a banner on the bare mountaintop. Call loudly to them. Signal them with your hand to enter the nobles' gates.
3 I've commanded my holy ones. I've called my mighty men to carry out my anger. They find joy in my triumphs.
The banner in this scripture was a tool to signal the mighty men of valor to come to war. These men would leave the security of their occupations and grab their weapons and march to war. The banner was a sign to the end of peace and no longer would the citizens live as they did, but influenced by a distant battle.
The banner to signal the church to war waves triumphantly at the top of the mountain. We have been called to battle the enemy for the souls of the lost of our community. We must leave our comfort zone and grab our weapon and storm the gates of hell. Paul wrote to Timothy...
1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
This battle is not a lost cause, but a guaranteed victory. We can reach our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ for it is a promise in the Word of God....
1 John 4:4 Dear children, you belong to God. So you have won the victory over these people, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
Our desire should be a desire to reach the lost. We are the ambassadors of Christ to our community and should fight the fight.
