This is the sermon preached at Cornerstone Chapel on November 16th...

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

In writing my blog this week, I thought I would try to post some good news.  In looking for good news, I came across articles on…

•    Riots over not allowing gay marriages
•    Forest fires
•    The economy is crashing
•    Atheists advertising on the sides of buses
•    Murder and Mayhem

When I think of the news, as it has been recently, my thoughts are brought to the scripture found in…

2 Timothy 3:1 (Amplified) BUT UNDERSTAND this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear].

But, this morning, I want to bring you some good news.  The scripture that I read as my text, Mark 16:15 is found in the Amplified Bible as stating…

And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach and publish openly the good news (the Gospel) to every creature [of the whole human race].

No matter how bad the world becomes there will always be good news.  I realize that most people would want their pastor to be optimistic, but the good news that I declare until you this morning is not that the economy is better or somehow peace has overtaken the world.  The good news that I preach unto you this morning is not limited to governments or even generations.  It is not controlled by time or current events.  It brings hope to the masses and joy to the world.  Paul wrote in Romans 1:16…

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

The good news of the gospel is that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin not just to be a good person, but He came with a purpose…

Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

The good news of the gospel is that Jesus Christ came and died on a cross that we might live…

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

The good news of the gospel is that Jesus Christ was buried and that He rose again…

Romans 6:4 (Amplified) We were buried therefore with Him by the baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious [power] of the Father, so we too might [habitually] live and behave in newness of life.

The good news of the gospel is that we have an opportunity through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ to have life and have it more abundantly.  No more do we have to be bound by sin, but can stand tall on the promises of God.  For Jesus stated…

John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
